Lesson 1 - Intro to Bass Guitar


The standard electric bass guitar has 4 strings which are tuned just like the 4 low strings of a normal guitar. The lowest string (string 4) is tuned to E. The others are tuned to A, D, and G.

Most bass players use their fingers to strike the strings. You can also use a pick. If you use your fingers, the most common way is to rest your thumb above the E string, and then use your first two fingers to strike the desired notes by alternating fingers. The video below demonstrates how this is done.
