Lesson 2 - Important Notes and Patterns
Just like on the regular guitar, there are notes you should learn as anchor and reference points. You may want to do this in steps:
Step 1 - G, C and D at the "Open Position"
Since we begin by playing in the key of G the notes G, C and D are the root notes of the three most important chords used in this key.
Step 2 - Notes on Fret 3 and Fret 5
Frets and 5 are very important reference points. Memorize these note positions:
Step 3 - Major Scale Patterns
2-3-3 Major Scale Pattern
This pattern can be used for any key. For example, for a G scale with root at E3 the sequence is E3-E5-A2-A3-A5-D2-D4-D5.
3-3-2 Major Scale Pattern
This pattern can be used for any key. For example, for a G scale with root at E3 the sequence is E3-E5-E7-A3-A5-A7-D4-D5.
