Lesson 12

Chords for the Key of C

When playing along with songs in the key of C the chords you will most often need are the I, IV and V chords, plus at least two minor chords (Am and Em). The I-IV-V chords are C, F and G.

We've already learned the C and G chords, and we will introduce Am and Em in an upcoming lesson. So in this lesson we will introduce the F chord.

The F chord is one of the most difficult to play for beginners because it requires holding down two strings at the same time - the B and (high) E at fret 1. In this video we look at some different ways to play an F chord.
