Ukuleles are inexpensive
This is a big one. Getting started on the ukulele does not involve a major investment. You can buy a very good quality ukulele for around $100 (CD), and many others for about $50. This is significantly less than any other instrument (other than maybe a harmonica).

5. No need to learn how to read music
Learning how to play the piano, for example, or the violin, saxophone, or trumpet requires that you learn how to read traditional music. This may be useful in other ways, but it makes it more difficult to get started. At the beginning stage the ukulele can be played from a page indicating the chords. That is because playing the ukulele at the beginning stages (and more advanced ones too) basically just involves strumming chords.

6. You can sing while you play
The ukulele is ideal for playing along with sing songs. Think of a simple song like “Happy Birthday”. This is also true of the piano and guitar. But try singing along while playing a violin or trumpet!

7. The Ukulele helps learn the Guitar
You may not be interested in ever learning to play the guitar, but if you are, the ukulele is a very good starting place. Many of the playing techniques are the same: strumming, fingering the strings, picking out notes, etc. And the chord shapes are the same too. Once you learn how to play a G chord on the Uke, you have also learned how to play a D chord on the Guitar. The C chord on the Uke is played like a G chord on the guitar.

Here a couple more reasons why the ukulele is a perfect instrument for beginners. 4.
